Carol Shelton tasting winemaker Erich Bradley's Sojourn 2008 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Carol Shelton is such a blast to hang out with, really!

Mila, Carol and I hung out for about 4 hours talking about everything from her amazing Zinfandel to the aroma wheel which she helped contribute to for Dr. Anne Noble and so much more.  Starting out at her winery and ending up at Santi Restaurant. Santi is a killer Italian restaurant in the hills of Santa Rosa California. Carol is super savvy, she had such great info for us and her depth of knowledge gave us a lot of good video.

In this segment we are about 2 hours into our time with Carol at the Carol Shelton Tasting Room and we decide on a change of venue. So we relocate to her barrel room to taste winemaker Erich Bradley's Sojourn Cellars 2008 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Erich Bradley is also the winemaker for Audelssa Winery another class act turning out top notch premium Bordeaux style wines.

The Sojourn tasting room is located on the Sonoma Plaza at 141 East Napa Street, Sonoma, Ca. Erich makes Pinot and Cab at Sojourn and he is getting lots of great reviews I saw that a recent Cabernet Sauvignon release of his just garnered 93 points from Robert Parker. I also remember seeing a Gary Vaynerchuk double blind tasting of Pinot in which Erich's Sojourn Pinot Noir stole the show. Way to go Erich keep em coming and we'll keep drink em!

Carol and I really liked the Sojourn Pinot too, its super tasty with a nice long finish. The Sojourn Pinot as with all of the wines I have ever tasted from Erich is smooth and balanced. Making it quaffable without need of food to tame it down but with enough backbone to stand up to a wide array of foods. We have had the Sojourn Sonoma Coast Pinot on our wine list at the Sunlfower Caffe forever and quite often by the glass and even the 2oz taste. It has always been a hit with our customers.

In the video Carol and I comment that Erich made the Pinot with a bit of a Burgundian style and yet I see on his web site he calls his style of winemaking New World! I dont know what to say, I guess its tough to pin it down. We'll have to do an Erich Bradley interview soon to get his take on it.

Enjoy the video, it was really fun and again a huge thank you to Carol Shelton for spending so much time and giving us such great content. And of course to Erich Bradley and the whole gang at Sojourn Cellars, they really create outstanding wines!
